Preloading has begun for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with the game’s file size looking to be one of the smallest in years.
On PC, preloading is available for both the campaign and multiplayer portion of the game, which can be downloaded together or separately. Together, the two modes total 56GB on PC.
On PlayStation 5, according to CharlieIntel, campaign pack 1 is 16.44 GB, with campaign pack 2 coming in at 20.998 GB. A file size for the multiplayer portion is not currently available.
Call of Duty’s huge file sizes have been a sticking point for players in recent years. Since introducing the Call of Duty hub, through which all COD releases are installed, the complete file size of having every Call of Duty title installed has ballooned to over 300GB.
Installing every element of 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 alone totalled over 200 GB, something that Activision pledged to fix earlier this year.
In August, Activision finally separated Warzone from the yearly released games, a request that was loudly echoed by players since the free-to-play battle royale was first introduced.
Microsoft announced this week that Call of Duty titles Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone will receive Xbox Cloud Gaming support later this month.
All three games will be playable with Xbox Cloud Gaming for Game Pass Ultimate members starting on October 25, which is the Black Ops 6 release date.
It was previously confirmed that Black Ops 6 would be the first Call of Duty title to launch on Game Pass on day one.
