Even once players have beaten the main story of , the true final boss remains a final challenge to unlock by accessing an additional chapter at the end of the game. Named The Affirmer of Phenomena, this fight earns players a secret ending that lends new context to the story. In addition, several new outfits are gained once this foe is defeated, allowing players to go through each chapter with a new gameplay style that changes their experience from the first playthrough.

The only way to find the true final boss is through Jeanne's Tale, a side story unlocked once players complete all 13 main story chapters. Located in the «Extras» option in the title screen, Jeanne's Tale features Cereza's future rival, Jeanne, with a new companion that differs slightly in combat. Players are recommended to become familiar with these changes. The Affirmer of Phenomena can only be defeated as Jeanne since this foe kidnaps Cereza going into this epilogue. Similar to side chapters found after beating , Jeanne represents a change in difficulty that could present a bigger challenge than the base game.

Players have a different companion against the true final boss, named "Charles" or Red Cheshire, who has a slightly bigger area of effect on their Thorn Bind magical ability. Thankfully, players can also utilize any changed form using any Elemental Cores when using Charles in battle, as well as free switching between Hug and Unleashed modes. However, with a longer cooldown on Thorn Bind with Red Cheshire, players have to adjust slightly when fighting The Affirmer due to these changes in their companion.
