The explosive power of the Rocket Launcher returns in as one of the most damaging weapons players can find and unlock throughout the story. Arguably no other firearm carries the most destruction against the hordes of enemies Leon encounters, but the gun does have glaring weaknesses that could give players pause. However, no other weapon in the game works better against bosses or tougher foes seen later on, as its incredible damage cannot be ignored.

The Rocket Launcher becomes available during Chapter 4, but players must accomplish a few tasks before it unlocks completely. First, Leon has to fuel the boat and kill the Del Largo Lake Monster before the weapon in question appears. Players can improve tools they have acquired up to this point to fight the boss, including purchasing weapon upgrades from the Merchant by exchanging several Pesetas, the in-game currency gained from looting bodies or selling valuable items.

Once the Del Largo Lake Monster has been killed, players that return to the Merchant's shop in Chapter 4 will find the Rocket Launcher up for sale for a whopping 80,000 Pesetas. While it may seem that this price is quite ridiculous, players can reduce the Rocket Launcher's cost by 20% by equipping the Rocket Launcher Charm item.

The Charm can be obtained by finishing the Shooting Range challenges in the elevator in the same room the Merchant resides in Chapter 4.
