Bandai Namco announced earlier today that Gundam Evolution is being shut down just under a year since it launched. The 6v6 Gundam shooter launched last year on PC and console and will see its service end on November 29th across all platforms.
Despite having one of the most recognizable anime brands, the 6v6 free-to-play Gundam Evolution struggled to find its footing in the live service market. Evolution's executive producer Kazuya Maruyama announced today on the official website that it just is «no longer possible» to provide a service that «satisfies» its players.
«We wanted to create a title that brought FPS fans and Gundam fans together. We challenged ourselves to create an authentic Gundam FPS game that could be played globally.
Unfortunately, we have determined that it is no longer possible for us to provide a service that satisfies our players. „
Despite the shutdown happening in November, Gundam Evolution's Season 6 will still release next month, which brings a new Gundam unit and two new maps to the game. Additionally, its final season will drop on October 25th, bringing yet another new unit and map, giving players who stick around during its end-of-life some stuff to look forward to.
However, starting on July 26th, the sale of EVO coins will cease, and players will be able to spend what they have throughout the time Gundam Evolution has left, though it should be noted that Bandai will not be issuing refunds for coins already purchased. You can catch tomorrow's Mission Briefing Final stream at 11:00 pm PDT to hear from the team about what's to come, further details surrounding the closure, and more.
