The new game from Larian is off to a hot start.

After years of development, Baldur's Gate 3 has finally launched on PC, and it's quickly putting up big numbers. On Steam, the game exceeded 400,000 concurrent players just hours after launch. A day later, the figure climbed above 500,000. Now, it's pushed beyond 800,000 concurrent players.
Larian boss Swen Vincke said the IT team at Larian was informed that they should expect about 100,000 or so at the maximum, so they are probably working hard to make sure things stay smooth for everyone. Larian's director of publishing, Michael Douse, said the 500,000 figure is «just mind blowing.»

Baldur's Gate 3 is one of 2023's biggest PC launches, beating out titles like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and the Resident Evil 4 remake by some initial metrics. Baldur's Gate 3 is the top-selling game on Steam right now.
Larian Studios founder and creative director Swen Vincke released a nice message to herald the game's launch. He wrote, «I'm super proud of what our team accomplished and I hope you will have an incredible amount of fun exploring what we prepared for you.»
Larian worked on the game for more than six years, with more than 400 people contributing to its development. While the game is officially launching today, it came out earlier on Steam early access, where more than 2.5 million
