Do you know what Baldur's Gate 3 is missing? GUNS. You can hurl a firebolt, sure, but it's not the same as squeezing a trigger. Luckily, modders are hard at work on arming the Sword Coast, handing Astarion a colt python because that's exactly what a corrupt magistrate vampire needs.
There are a few different mods to choose from, but the first three I'm highlighting were put together by Palmaman33. The first is that Western classic, the six-shooter. "Ever wanted to play as a cowboy in Baldur's Gate 3?" the page's description reads. "Now you can!" It spawns in the tutorial chest (via a separate summoning mod), so you can grab it the second you get going. There's a Rare version which deals 4-28 damage, and a Legendary version that deals 8-54 damage. They're categorised as hand crossbows, so you'll need to be proficient to get the most out of them.
Sometimes magic just doesn't have the same satisfying 'bang' as a six-shooter.
The second mod is another pistol (this time brandished by Shadowheart) - the iconic M1911. While it's perhaps most well-known for its role as the starting pistol in so many Call of Duty Zombies maps, you can now use it to take on the Absolute's footsoldiers in Baldur's Gate 3. This firearm deals 10-32 damage and is likewise flagged as a hand crossbow.
The third mod adds an AKM, found once more in that tutorial chest. This time, however, there are five variants:
Unlike the other two guns, it's considered a heavy crossbow, and from rare and up, it can even inflict burning damage so long as you're either invisible or hiding. Hand one to Astarion and have him crouch in the corner taking potshots and that sweet Victory Royale against the Absolute is all yours (sorry).
