Fresh off a World Cup championship, Leo Messi is working with Sony Music Entertainment on a new animated series that will see his childhood self inside a video game. The show will be geared toward kids.
There's no name yet for the animated series, but it will focus on a young Messi tackling challenges on his journey in a video game. Sony Music Entertainment added that the show will feature original music from its artists and composers.
«Since I was a kid, I've always loved animated series and my kids are big fans of animated characters,» Messi said in the press release announcing the series. «Being able to participate in an animation project makes me happy, because it fulfills one of my dreams! I would like to thank Sony Music for joining this project and we hope that everyone will like the result, especially the girls and the boys.»
The Argentinean captain led his country to a World Cup win in December. He's also been named the FIFA World Player of the Year six times. What's not exactly clear is the video game connection for Messi, though it's stated the series will focus on his sportsmanship and love of soccer as well. It's also unknown if there could be any PlayStation branding considering Sony Music's involvement.
That said, Messi isn't a total newcomer to the video game scene. The famous footballer was part of a collaboration with PUBG Mobile last year.
