Wii Sports Is Up Against GoldenEye And The Last Of Us To Enter The Video Game Hall Of Fame
Did you know there is the World Video Game Hall of Fame? Nominees are named every year for contention to be inducted into the prestigious list. Run by one of the largest history museums in the United States, the New York state-based The Strong, recent inductees include the likes of Ocarina of Time, Ms. Pac-Man, and Dance Dance Revolution.
The names in the running for 2023, as you might expect, include some heavyweights (via Nintendolife). The finalists include the sweat-inducing, family-fun-in-front-of-the-couch classic Wii Sports. The 2006 game was a launch title for the super popular Wii console, and featured five sports made to take advantage of that machine's motion controllers. Next up in the running is another Nintendo classic.

That would be the Rare-developed, and licensed 1997 N64 first-person shooter, GoldenEye 007. Forever etched into many gamers' memories for a multiplayer blast into the small hours, the game has become well known for its inventive level design and well-crafted NPCs. But the two have major competition.
They compete against Microsoft's real-time strategy title Age of Empires; id Software's influential shooter Quake; another highly influential shooter in the form of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare; EA's FIFA series (which is now no longer known as FIFA); the pioneering mobile smash hit Angry Birds; 2K's popular NBA series; the first commercial video game, dating to 1971, Computer Space; pioneering fantasy RPG Wizardry; and the critical darling, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us.
