AMD has recently posted a number of benchmarks showcasing the advantage that FSR 2 offers in raytracing titles on the Radeon RX 7900 GPUs.
In a blog post titled "Maximum Ray Tracing Performance with AMD FSR 2 and AMD Radeon RX 7900 Series Graphics", the red team showcased the performance benefits that come with enabling FSR 2 in a range of raytracing titles. The list of FSR titles is definitely increasing by the day which is thanks to its very open nature and easy integration within game engines. AMD decided it was time to show its users what FSR 2 brings to the table.
For performance evaluation, AMD used a total of 12 recently released AAA games that feature ray tracing support and tested them at all quality modes that FSR 2 has to offer. With FSR 2, gamers get two things, over 60+ FPS with smooth gameplay in eSports titles and raytraced images in AAA titles where you'd otherwise have to lower settings or disable raytracing altogether to achieve a 60+ FPS target. Following are the FSR 2 presets used for testing:
(2.25x area scale) (67% screen resolution)
(2.89x area scale) (59% screen resolution)
(4x area scale) (50% screen resolution)
Another reason why this performance demo is being made is that AMD recently published a video showcasing a number of games running at 4K Ultra settings with raytracing but only with the FSR 2 "Performance" preset.
A lot of users requested AMD to post the numbers at the "Quality" preset too & while the video was technically showcasing the maximum "2x" performance that could be achieved with FSR 2's performance preset, we get why users asked to see quality preset running the same games. The Quality preset produces a far better visual representation and while the 2x performance might not be there,
