Simulated performance results of what an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU might offer have been published by Igor's Lab.
AMD's Navi 32 GPU is expected to feature significantly improved performance than the Navi 31. The details of the GPU are limited however, we did get a sneak peek of it yesterday. Although the capabilities of the Navi 32 are unknown for now, Igor's Lab went out of the way into simulating the performance of the upcoming Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU using the Radeon Pro W7800 GPU.
To do so, Igor's Lab made several changes to the GPU. The AMD Radeon Pro W7800 features the cut-down Navi 31 XT GPU with 70 Compute Units and 4480 stream processors. The GPU is equipped with 32 GB GDDR6 memory which runs across a 256-bit bus interface and delivers a peak bandwidth of 576 GB/s. This is the first Navi 31 card on a 256-bit bus interface whereas the Radeon RX 7900 utilizes a 320-bit bus.
To get similar results as the expected RX 7800 XT, Igor made use of the conversion method which basically halved the VRAM to 16 GB through MemtestCL (a program that predefines memory usage). It is obvious that the RX 7800 XT won't feature such the much high 32 GB VRAM hence this was done to avoid performance disparities. The TBP of the GPU was also adjusted to 270W.
Before proceeding, we should point out that it is theorized by Igor that the Radeon RX 7800 XT will feature similar core specs as the Radeon Pro W7800 but that hasn't been confirmed yet & nothing is set in stone.
Apart from the onboard changes, Igor's Lab also found some weird issues with the driver compatibility of the GPU. Here is what they say about it:
The second thing is almost a running gag, because what AMD delivers as a driver here is at least to be provided with a bigger question
