Voice actor and YouTuber Yong Yea has been announced as the new English voice of longtime Yakuza/Like a Dragon protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio made the announcement over on Twitter while revealing Yea as the final panellist at their upcoming Dragons of Japan talk, scheduled to take place at Anime Expo in LA.
Yea is no stranger to voice work, with an extensive list of IMDB credits across animation and games, big names like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion amongst them. Yea rose to fame on YouTube almost a decade ago with a channel focused on gaming news, reviews and discussions, and is still active there.
His first appearances as the character will be in Kiryu spinoff Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and the next mainline entry in the series, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. He takes over from Darryl Kurylo, Kiryu's English voice since 2005.
What do you think of Yea's appointment as the English voice of Kazuma Kiryu? Do you prefer to play Yakuza/ Like a Dragon in the original Japanese? Let us know in the comments section below.
