Missy Cooper perfectly sums up George's problem with Mary in Young Sheldon season 5. It's no secret that the Cooper parents have had a tumultuous marriage throughout the series' 5-year run (and counting) on CBS, and based on The Big Bang Theory, their situation is only going to get worse moving forward.
BeforeYoung Sheldon was greenlit, a lot had already been revealed about the Coopers thanks to The Big Bang Theory. Adult Sheldon (Jim Parsons) often shared stories and anecdotes from his childhood. Most of his family members also visited him in Pasadena during the show's run, gradually piecing together their colorful life in Medford, Texas. George (Lance Barber) was a notable exception, as the character was already dead when the original sitcom began. Laurie Metcalf's Adult Mary (Zoe Perry) talked about the poor state of their marriage often, painting a picture that it was a problematic relationship because of her husband. Young Sheldon contradicts that, however, showing that Mary has also had issues.

Young Sheldon season 5 hasn't explicitly tackled Mary and George's crumbling marriage. Instead, it has been planting plot seeds for a later culmination of all their issues. However, before that happens, the pair's only daughter subtly sums up her father's issues with her mom. In the Young Sheldon episode «Babies, Lies and a Resplendent Cannoli,» Missy (Raegan Revord) gets into an argument with Mary about taking the trash out. When Sheldon's twin tried doing the chore, her mom said she just put a new bag in, prompting Missy to say: «there's no pleasing you.» This encapsulates George's issue with
