World of Warcraft just revealed The Voices Within, a new short story collection for The War Within. These tales will feature iconic World of Warcraft characters like Anduin, Thrall, Alleria, and Gazlowe, and are currently planned for a November 5 release date.
The War Within is the first expansion of the Worldsoul Saga, World of Warcraft’s new multi-year storytelling experience that it announced at BlizzCon last year. Though the expansion doesn’t have a solid release date yet, World of Warcraft’s 2024 roadmap estimates the update will arrive in late summer or early Autumn.
Now, World of Warcraft fans can look forward to a short story anthology later this year as well. The Voices Within is a collection of short stories written by different authors, each of which covers a different iconic World of Warcraft character on their journeys leading up to The War Within. A half dozen stories have been confirmed to be in the anthology, with tales involving Anduin, Thrall, Alleria, and Gazlowe coming in the collection, alongside at least two others. The hardcover version of World of Warcraft: The Voices Within is available for pre-order on Amazon right now for $30.
The award-winning authors penning these tales include both newcomers and veterans to the World of Warcraft story circuit. Golden has written several WoW short stories and books over the years, and Alameda authored the recent War of the Scaleborn novel. Robinson has written for cinematics and comics for many Blizzard franchises, including World of Warcraft, and Valente had a story in the Folk & Fairy Tales of Azeroth anthology collection. Dawson and Maberry are new to WoW, but the latter has written at least one short story for Diablo 4's cash shop.
While it is far from confirmation, the release date for The Voices Within might provide a clue as to when The War Within could launch. Most similar World of Warcraft companion stories came out after their respective expansion’s launch. Considering this factor, World of
