Series creator David Haas comments on whether or not Chicago Fire season 11 will see the return of Dawson (Monica Raymund). NBC's first-responder series has recently wrapped up its latest outing with a feel-good season 10 finale. But, Firehouse 51 is slated to return on the air later this year with Chicago Fire season 11 having already been long-renewed.
InChicago Fire season 10, Firehouse 51 underwent a lot of changes and arguably the biggest one was the departure of Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer). The long-time firefightermoved to Portland, Oregon to take care of his late best friend's kids, and not even his deepening relationship with Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) couldn't stop him from relocating. The Chicago Fire season 10 finale saw the return of Casey to Chicago as he attended the wedding of Kelly Severide (Taylor McKinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). In the same episode, he and Brett decided to move forward with their long-distance set-up for now.

That being said, if rumors turn out to be true, the distance might not be the only factor that could break up Casey and Brett. There have been rumblings that Chicago Fire season 11 will feature the return of Casey's ex — Dawson. In a new interview with US Weekly, however, Haas effectively squashes this idea. “She’s not coming back anytime soon,” co-creator Derek Haas exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of the Chicago Fire season 10 finale. “It felt like they had a really good, you know, they left in a good place when she left the last time. And then Casey’s been a one-woman man since then. So we’re not throwing that wrench.”
