Derryth Bonecloak is an especially sad character in , a struggling apothecary owner whose abusive husband has suffered a traumatic brain injury and now cannot help run the shop. The player can help her in act one by providing her with some Noblestalk, an especially valuable mushroom she can sell, but when met in her shop in the lower city, she still seems quite lonely and discontented.
Luckily, in the event that Derryth's husband Baelen does not survive his last trip to the Underdark, it is possible to give Derryth a companion in the form of one of the stray cats in Baldur's Gate. But Derryth is not a religious woman, as far as one can tell, and her jaded cynicism seems like a poor match for Barsik's zealotry. Barsik would likely be happier preaching across the Wide than stuck in one shop, and there are other cats which might give Derryth better company.
Malta prowls the area around the lower city's central wall, an orange cat with a quiet, distant personality. Speaking to him will prompt some L.A.
