Unfortunately, rather than providing clarity, the art raised more questions about the expansion’s setting and timeline. However, some hints can be gleaned from this art and FromSoftware’s track record with past DLCs.

Martin gave ’s canon timeline some context, but it’s worth noting that it isn’t easy to grasp judging from in-game item descriptions and dialogue. ’s cover art is just as ambiguous in this regard, but some notable details point to the possibility of the DLC being set in The Lands Between’s past, while others point to its future.

Miquella is shown in ’s intro cinematic, and his look matches the one depicted in ’s art. However, the hitch is that the demigod doesn’t look like this when the player finds him in-game. Slumbering near Mohg, 's Miquella in his egg-like cocoon looks decayed and gnarled, and it doesn’t seem possible for him to be restored to his prior condition.
