In anticipation of the new DLC, is receiving a massive 2.0 update to the base game, which players on supported systems will get for free regardless of whether they will be purchasing the DLC or not. The update includes an overhaul to many of the gameplay mechanics to make things more user-friendly as well as exciting changes to vehicle combat and car chases. Even the Night City PD has been upgraded with much better AI to make things feel a bit more realistic, or at least challenging.
Update 2.0 to is such a large change in gameplay features that even without the new DLC, many will be able to enjoy playing the game again or perhaps be enticed to try it for the first time. The biggest change will come in the form of the redesigned skill trees and perks which will have a huge effect on how the game is played. With the new systems, players can make more impactful choices in creating their V to match the style of how they play or enjoy experimenting with all-new builds. Current players will want to note that although their existing saves will work with Update 2.0, they will need to redistribute points on their skill tree or else they could feel woefully unprepared to encounter enemies.

's Update 2.0 will be available on September 21, 2023. This update will come just days before the new paid DLC is released on September 26 and is designed to support and provide a foundation for the DLC, while also adding many features and quality-of-life improvements to the base game for all.
