Something that many video game fans have grown tired of over the last decade or so are video games that get announced by big-time publishers or developers and then aren’t seen again for many years. To them, it’s kind of insulting to try and hype them up about a game that potentially won’t arrive for years. If it’s a year or two? That can be fine. But 3-5 years or more? That just makes gamers wonder why the title was announced in the first place. One such title this happened with was Star Wars Eclipse, a title by Quantic Dream that was revealed in 2021.
The title was shown during The Game Awards, making many people wonder what it was and how it would feel compared to other titles within the franchise. By design, the trailer didn’t unveil much, but we do know it was set during the era of the High Republic, and the trailer showed off some new alien species that players could encounter. Quantic Dream later noted that it would be an action-adventure title, but it would still have some of the things that Quantic Dream was known for.
However, ever since that first trailer, there hasn’t been a trace of Star Wars Eclipse in the visual sense. There have been MANY reports of what’s going on with the title, and none of them are good. There was even a report that said the title wouldn’t be released until 2026 and that Quantic Dream was having trouble hiring people to make the game!
Fast forward to now, and IGN interviewed Lisa Pendse, Vice President of Marketing for Quantic Dream, during the Tokyo Game Show. When she was asked about the title, she simply noted:
“Can I say it still exists? Because it exists. It’s just not ready. It’s simmering.”
