Owlcat Games’ Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is out tomorrow and supports co-op, a first for the developer. A new Steam post is available, detailing how it works and its differences from other major titles. Though up to six players can team together, only one can be the Lord Captain.
That means only they can select dialogue and book options, enter locations and level up the ship. They can also continue playing without other players, assign multiple characters to one person, convert it to single-player or relinquish their role to someone else. Players can also vote on certain dialogues and choices.
While performing skill checks, you’ll need to select the best person for the job in co-op – the game won’t automatically denote them. Inviting other players to drop in and drop out is also possible. They can also decide whether to play as the Lord Trader’s companions or create custom characters at the risk of losing story content.
The latter isn’t possible within a co-op session but will be added later. Otherwise, all players can access the inventory, cargo, vendors, trade and more. There’s also shared command of the ship during space combat.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Check out more details on combat here.
