The latest Q&A video — the last of 2023 — for New World dropped on Christmas. Despite the festive outfits of two-thirds of the developers on camera, the Amazon Games team addressed some pretty hard-hitting questions that have circulated since its 2024 roadmap was revealed.
The latest roadmap, which was revealed last week, showcased some of the plans the team is working on for New World in the coming months. For many players, the traditional idea of «content» was absent, though, which many players have pointed out on the official Discord,Reddit, and more.
While the festive Q&A sometimes felt light-hearted, the team didn't ignore that feedback, addressing some of the hard-hitting questions head-on. This included player questions about why gamepad support is on there but no new content, Outpost Rush maps, and more.
Despite the concerns, game director Scot Lane says that while they have a ton of stuff planned for 2024, they can't exactly go into detail about all of it — and for those who feel things are content-lite right now, look forward to May's announcement.
«We'd love nothing more than to tell you, 'Here's everything we're planning to do in 2024,'» Lane says at the top of the video. He continued, «We just can't do that right now. You know, we're just not able. But I can tell you, it's going to be a lot.»
The three devs also addressed the bad Season 4 launch, which saw a delay thanks to some issues not found in the internal testing, with the developers vowing to do better.
«We're not happy with the way the release went, either,» Creative Director David Verfaillie said in the video.
