Honkai: Star Rail has revealed Gallagher as a new Fire Abundance character coming to the game with the launch of the Version 2.1 update, currently expected to debut in March. With the release of Honkai: Star Rail's newest playable world right around the corner, HoYoverse has given fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the new world. Penacony's release is expected to bring three new playable characters to Star Rail, more areas to explore, and even new gameplay mechanics. Now, players are being teased with even more characters to come.

During the lead-up to Honkai: Star Rail's highly-anticipated Version 2.0 Special Program, HoYoverse has begun to roll out reveals for the following version's characters. Version 2.1 has been confirmed to feature two new five-star characters joining the roster, with Aventurine and the highly-anticipated Acheron releasing. Acheron was previously teased during Honkai: Star Rail's Game Awards trailer, with fans speculating that she may be Star Rail's version of popular Honkai Impact 3rd character Raiden Mei. The newest reveal from the game is now introducing players to Version 2.1's lone four-star character, Gallagher.

A new post shared to Honkai: Star Rail's social media accounts reveals new character Gallagher, a security officer for Penacony's Bloodhound Family. Gallagher is described as a «slovenly and indolent mixologist,» with his teaser image introducing the character as a bartender. The post reveals both his Element and Path, suggesting Gallagher will play a supportive role within Honkai: Star Rail as a Fire character in the Abundance Path. Gallagher will be the first Abundance character to wield the Fire element, with Ice as the last unrepresented element for Honkai: Star Rail's healer class.
