has reportedly dropped “The Kang Dynasty” from the title of the upcoming fifth movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In a new deep dive into the past few years of Marvel Studios’ rocky post-Endgame content, THR notes that Avengers 5, which was previously named Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, would no longer have that name. Following Jonathan Majors’ conviction of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment and subsequent firing from the MCU, THR noted that the fifth Avengers film would be getting a brand new title.
As of yet, that title is unknown, though THR did note that the movie studio was already “making moves to minimize” the role of Majors’ Kang even before his conviction.
Avengers 5’s release date is currently set for May 1, 2026. It was previously dated a year prior for May 2, 2025. It joined a lengthy list of Marvel delays as many movies saw rewrites and were impacted by the entertainment industry strikes that took place throughout 2023. Just recently, Deadpool & Wolverine was pushed back to July 26, 2024.
According to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige during a panel, both of the new Avengers films are currently planned to be the final entries in Phase 6 of the MCU, which will begin with the introduction of the Fantastic Four.
