A new video featuring concept art for WandaVision compares alternate versions of the Scarlet Witch's final costume. WandaVision kicked off the MCU's Phase 4 in January 2021 when it became the franchise's first live-action series to premiere on Disney+. Created by Jac Schaeffer, the series saw Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany return to their roles as Wanda Maximoff and Vision after their tragic parting in Avengers: Endgame. The series also stars Randall Park, Kat Dennings, and Evan Peters, and it introduces Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness and Teyonah Parris as an adult Monica Rambeau.
WandaVision told an unprecedented story for the MCU as it mixed genres between classic sitcoms and an unconventional mystery. The nine-episode series began with Wanda and Vision living in apparent wedded bliss in the suburbs of a 1960s sitcom. At first, neither Wanda nor Vision seem to acknowledge their strange environment or Vision's past death in Endgame, but as the season progresses, both Wanda's control and the town's mystery unravel. Wanda ends the series as the fully realized Scarlet Witch, complete with a new costume that calls back to her iconic comic book design. WandaVision's new approach earned it praise from critics as well as several awards including a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes.
