Tickets for the next big Marvel movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, are now on sale, and a new trailer for the superhero film has arrived as well. Set to an eerie rending of «All I Have To Do Is Dream,» the trailer shows more of Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Doctor Strange himself (Benedict Cumberbatch) in various forms--including as zombies! This appears to be riffing on the Marvel zombies that we've seen previously in the What If...? series, which aired on Disney+.
«The fate of the multiverse depends on us,» Wong (Benedict Wong) says to Stephen in the trailer, hyping up the high-stakes nature of the film.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the long-awaited sequel to the 2016 film. In addition to Cumberbatch, Olsen, and Wong, the movie stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams, while Patrick Stewart's Professor X is rumored to make an appearance in some capacity, as his voice was heard in the film's Super Bowl trailer.
Director Sam Raimi told Fandango that part of the fun for Cumberbatch and Olsen involved becoming different versions of their characters due to the film's multiverse nature.
«The movie is a journey into the multiverse, so you do see different iterations of Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, and even Lizzie Olsen's character of Wanda Maximoff. So, the actors have to play that. It's a great challenge for them and great fun to direct them playing these altered versions of themselves,» Raimi said.
The film opens on May 6, and tickets are now on sale. Some new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness posters have also arrived.
