Doctor Strange is still dealing with the ramifications of some of his choices in Avengers: Endgame when the narrative of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness begins. It's been almost three years since the Infinity Saga came to a close with Endgame. But like the fans, it seems like even some Marvel Studios characters still can't get over what went down in Avengers: Endgame, including Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange.
Director Sam Raimi is set to helm the sorcerer's next MCU outing. Doctor Strange's last appearance was in Spider-Man: No Way Home, after he helped Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in his time of need. Now, Strange goes on his own adventure and it's been confirmed that his next mission has something to do with what went down in the Jon Watts-directed flick. Other plot details are still tightly under wraps, but the sequel will also see the return of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) after WandaVision and the debut of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). But aside from being connected to Spider-Man: No Way Home, apparently, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will also have ties to Avengers: Endgame.

Per Marvel Studios' press release for the upcoming sequel (via The Direct), Raimi teases that Doctor Strange and other characters in the film will have some regrets about their choices in Avengers: Endgame.
