Having Tyler Hoechlin return as Derek Hale in the upcoming Teen Wolf movie would be the best option in easing the concerns of fans. The MTV series from Jeff Davis ran for six seasons between 2011 and 2017, airing a total of 100 episodes on the network. Hoechlin starred in the first four seasons as an enemy-turned-ally to fellow werewolf Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) before guest-starring in Teen Wolf season 6. Despite his arc seemingly coming to an end in the TV show, there's still hope Derek could appear in the reunion movie set at Paramount+.
Back in September 2021, news dropped that a Teen Wolf revival movie was in the works and would debut exclusively on Paramount+. The TV series, of course, was loosely based on 1985's Teen Wolf starring Michael J. Fox in the lead role, which would make the film project a full-circle moment for the franchise. The next major update on the upcoming Teen Wolf movie came in February 2022, when it was revealed major members of the original cast would return. That said, a few names were not included on the list of returnees, including Dylan O'Brien, who played Stiles Stilinski for all six seasons of Teen Wolf.
