Social stats have always been a key part of the Persona series, and this is no different in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. In main series games, Social Stats must be leveled up over time to unlock certain events and progress certain parts of the story. However, Social Stats work differently in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.
In Arena Ultimax, Social Stats serve as a sort of grading system for how the player fought. These Stats appear at the end of the battle to let the player know what areas of combat they're strong at versus which areas need work. Unfortunately, while these Social Stats can be a fun measure of a player's fighting style, they can be tricky to understand.

There are a total of five Social Stat measures in the game: Courage, Diligence, Knowledge, Expression, and Understanding. These Social Stats are almost identical to the Social Stats in Persona 5, so players of that game should be familiar with them. Courage is the easiest stat to understand in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, as it is based on the difficulty level the player is using. No matter how skilfully or offensively the player fights, they won't be able to obtain a high Courage score if they're playing on a lower difficulty.
