This week's GG WoW video is all about the Creation Catalyst! Learn more about the system in our Creation Catalyst Guide! Blizzard has also released a blog explaining the Creation Catalyst. This video mentions that Raid BoEs are not available to be used on the Creation Catalyst.
However, testing on the PTR after the video was recorded shows that you can use them. Next reset, the Catalyst will open and you'll be able to Catalyze one item per week, though that rate will increase later on in the patch.
Using the Catalyst will convert any item into the set item for that slot, KEEPING Tertiaries, Item Levels, Valor/Conquest Upgrade Paths, PVP Item Level increase, and Sockets, but CHANGING Secondaries, Transmog, and gaining the Set Bonus effect if possible. You can also use the Creation Catalyst on non-tier slots, which will update the item's transmog and secondaries, but we don't think will come with the set bonus effects.
Next week, you can and should always verify what your item will turn into before hitting Transform! Dratnos and Tettles also discuss the timing of the Creation Catalyst, and whether the 8th week of the Patch is too late. In a likely unpopular take, Dratnos argues that the timing is fine and we are still very early in what is likely to be a very long patch, and the Creation Catalyst representing guaranteed tier would potentially demotivate players from hunting for tier from its primary sources if it had come out any sooner.
Many members of the community, especially players who do not have their set bonuses and feel unable to compete with those who do, would have preferred the Catalyst to come out earlier, however. What do you think?
