TheGamer got a chance to catch up with a cast member of HBO's The Last of Us recently. Lead features editor Jade King spoke with Troy Baker on the red carpet at last week's BAFTA Game Awards and the actor had some choice words regarding the eagerly anticipated second season of the show.
Those who have played the games will know about Joel's fate, but for those who have only watched the show and have managed, somehow, to steer clear of all the spoilers about what's going to happen with him might want to skip what's coming next. Because Joel does not have a happy beginning in The Last of Us Part 2.

Joel gets clubbed to death by Abby in the second game, and it's hotly tipped that season two of HBO's adaptation will follow the game. Although there might be surprises, Troy Baker (who plays Joel in the games, and also has a minor role in the HBO show) would like to see this part depicted.
"I want to see [Joel's death] again", Baker told TheGamer. "I want people to be able to wrestle with it. I did, and for me it's a part of that story, it's the truest version of that story".
It's known that showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, and their team of writers, are hard at work on Season 2, while Bella Ramsey has hinted that production might have a chance of beginning late this year, suggesting we may not see next season on our screens until sometime in 2024. But Troy Baker has spent time talking and listening to Mazin.
"I know that Craig [Mazin] believes in the story we told in the games and we'll do that. We'll see how they do it, but I definitely feel that if we made people feel something we did our jobs, and that's what we're here to do", he said.
