If you think the discussion and debate over HBO's The Last of Us was done, think again. While it's not legacy media knocking up further column inches over that decision this time, it's actually the MTV Movie Awards that are causing a stir, dropping a smooch-sized rock into the stream of discourse.
While the annual MTV Movie Awards are not considered in the same presigious breath as the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, or the Academy Awards, the scrappier awards ceremony has proven itself to have its finger-on-the-pulse in times past. However, one of its latest nominations has fans of the show thinking MTV is a bit behind the times.

The MTV Movie Awards has featured Best Kiss as one of its categories since it first began, back in the ye olden days of 1992 (just kidding), and has featured some notable winners, such as between Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair in Cruel Intentions. For this year's edition of the awards, The Last of Us features in the saliva sharing category although it might not be the most romantic of kisses. And this is what has drawn fan ire.
Just so's you know HBO's widely praised adaptation of The Last of Us was also nominated for Best Show, Best Hero (Pedro Pascal's Joel), Breakthrough Performance (Bella Ramsey as Ellie), and Best Duo. And it's also in the Best Kiss category for the "kiss" between Tess (Anna Torv) and a clicker (Philip Prajoux). This kiss was quite shocking when it happened, since nothing like it occurs in the games, and it inspired its own little deluge of comment and yes we at TheGamer also weighed in.
