While «Who's the strongest Avenger?» will always be up for discussion, there's not much question about which member of the Guardians of the Galaxy is the nicest. Really, Mantis is the only one of them who's even nice at all. She's said more nice things in her time with the group than the rest of them combined.
So it's funny, then, that Mantis actor Pom Klementieff's other big role this summer is in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, as a murderous bad guy who gunned down a bunch of people in the CinemaCon footage we saw last week. As Klementieff told GameSpot at the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 junket, these two couldn't be any more different.
«They're the polar opposite of each character,» Klementieff said. «It's really fun to get to see two sides of, you know, what I can do.»
She wouldn't commit to having a preference for one over the other, but Klementieff said she needs that variety in her career.
«Oh, no, I like both. It's so fun.,» Klementieff said when asked whether she likes being the hero or villain more. «I love to do very different things. I love to do comedy and drama and action. So it's just, you know, it's the best to be able to do everything.»
That said, she also emphasized that she's not choosing roles based just on who her character is and what she would be doing. She's not choosing roles, per se, so much as she's choosing filmmakers she wants to work with.
«It's more about working with specific directors, you know, and people who have a sense of storytelling and who have a beautiful vision,» Klementieff said. «So it's more about that, and then the genre comes a little bit after. It's all about character, you know? Creating interesting and layered and cool characters that you care about.»
