An impressive Super Smash Bros. Ultimate mod from mastaklo might be the closest thing we ever get to Dragon Ball's Goku ever joining the game.
Despite being one of the most-requested characters to join the game (well, aside from joke choices like Shrek), it's very unlikely that Goku will ever be added to Super Smash Bros. officially. Sure, he's been in tons of games and is a worldwide icon with tons of moveset potential, but including a character so synonymous with anime and manga would be a big departure from the rest of the roster and open the floodgates perhaps a little too wide for anyone to join the game.

Combine that with the fact that it looks like we're not getting a new Smash game for a long while, and Goku joining the series is a bit of a pipe dream, which saddens me to say as a big fan of everything Kamehameha. Still, it looks like we won't be needing Nintendo to officially add Goku to the game, as this incredible work-in-progress mod from mastaklo feels as close to an official inclusion as we're ever going to get.
As showcased by mastaklo on their YouTube page, the mod, which can be downloaded in beta form via mastaklo's Patreon, replaces (but not overwrites) Ryu with everyone's favourite turtle school student, Goku. Not only that, but Goku also has his own unique moveset that pitch perfectly represents the character without just giving him a bunch of beam attacks and overpowered transformations.
For his basic attacks, Goku has a bunch of recognisable attacks like his two-handed hammer smash and his dive bomb, but it's his special moves that really impress. Goku's neutral special is, of course, a Kamehameha, while his up
