Building up to this week’s release of Resident Evil 4 remake, Capcom has been releasing some cute and funny anime shorts based on the game’s story. Produced by Nippon Animation, they are just as brilliant as the remade game itself!
The first episode of “Leon and the Mysterious Village” was released at the start of this week, with Leon visiting a serene village while looking for Ashley, and deciding to ask the locals if they’ve seen her. If you have any idea about the game, you’ll probably guess where this goes wrong for him…
After finally managing to meet up with Ashely in episode 2, Leon makes her promise to stay close by and totally not get kidnapped over, and over, and over, and over again.
As video game advertising campaigns go, this is easily one of my favourites, putting a humorous spin on Resident Evil 4 and the quirky shenanigans that the horror game classic puts you through. I could watch at least ten more of these.
Resident Evil 4 remake is out in just a couple days time on 24th March 2023 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PC.
It’s a brilliant remake by Capcom, who have really mastered the art of reviving and updating their classics from yesteryear. In our Resident Evil 4 remake review, Steve said, “Resident Evil 4 Remake is a more mature and darker take on Leon’s Euro Trip that constantly plays with your expectations and prior knowledge. The core narrative stays true to the original, but it’s not afraid to make some significant changes, while the new gameplay flow lends itself brilliantly for repeated runs for specific challenges that I’m already planning.”
Oh, and he gave it a whopping 10/10!
