The upcoming Gran Turismo film has received its second official trailer.
The movie, which is set to release on August 11, is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, who won the GT Academy esports tournament in 2011 and is now a professional racer competing in the Japanese Super GT series.
It’s directed by Neill Blomkamp (Demonic, Chappie, Elysium, District 9) from a script written by Jason Hall (American Sniper) and Zach Baylin (King Richard).
It stars Orlando Bloom, David Harbour, Djimon Hounsou, Geri Horner, and Archie Madekwe as Mardenborough.

PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan are among the film’s producers, while Gran Turismo creator and Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi is serving as an executive producer.
As of November 2022, the Gran Turismo series had sold 90 million units since the release of the first game in 1997.
“This result is something that could not be accomplished by ourselves alone,” Yamauchi said at the time.
“Behind that 90 million figure, there are all the people of the media who conveyed the allure of Gran Turismo to their readers.
“There are the people of PlayStation who sold GT for us around the world with passion, and there is the incredible amount of support from the retailers who interfaced with our users. My heartfelt thanks goes out to all of them for their support.
“And above all else, I can’t ever thank enough the GT users and people of the GT community who have played our new titles, which at times could be said to have been very experimental.”
