Pokemon TCG has become a pretty lucrative hobby over the past decade, with some of the game's rarest cards selling for millions of dollars. In fact, some are so rare that one simply being put up for auction is enough to make a pretty big splash amongst the community, which is exactly what's happened with an extremely rare 1998 Pokemon Japanese Promo Silver 2nd-2nd Tournament #2 Trophy Pikachu that was recently posted.
The sale is taking place on auction website Goldin, and will begin in just a few hours at the time of writing. With a starting bid of a whopping $50,000, there's potential that this card could go down as the one of the most expensive should a decent biddig war get going, which is likely what the owner is counting on.

If you want some backstory on why this card has such a massive starting bid, the description of the item explains that this particular card was presented as the second place prize for the 1997-1998 Japanese Lizardon Mega Battle Pokemon tournament events, having only been printed once before for the first official Japanese Pokemon tournament that took place in 1997. That means we're looking at a card that is potentially 26 years old.
On top of that, it's also believed that only 14 of these cards actually exist, meaning is very old and very limited - two traits that increase the value of pretty much anything. Then we have probably the most important factor, and that's this card's official grading by the PSA. The seller claims that the PSA has only ever graded four of these cards in its entire history, and that the one they're selling is the only one in the world to have been graded at GEM MT 10,
