This time last year, MultiVersus was the hot new fighting game on the scene. It was being touted as a genuine Smash Bros. comepetitor, and frequent character additions and rewards kept the game going and fans satisfied. Jump back to the present day and MultiVersus is looking a whole lot different, having been taken offline earlier this year in an attempt to try and build up a wealth of new content for its full launch at some point in 2024.
Ever since the game was taken offline, developer Player First Games has been relatively silent on how development has been going since, presumably because the folks behind it are hard at work on the relaunch. However, this silence does nothing to ease the worries of the fans out there that are convinced the game is never coming back, an understandable concern given how abrupt the game being taken offline actually was.

Thankfully, the developers broke the silence earlier today, issuing a statement via the Player First Games Twitter account on how development has been going since the shut down, and thanking fans for their "support and patience". According to the tweet, work on the title has been "steady and going well" and that the team is going to continue "working hard" to make the future of the title as promising as possible.
While a lot of people were pretty peeved at Player First when they first announced the game's temporary closure, demanding refunds upon the news breaking, it seems like fans are being much more supportive in the replies to this tweet. Many are simply grateful for the update, even if it's only a minor one, while others are expressing their excitement for the game's return and what it might include.
