David Fincher’s latest The Killer is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival this week, and a teaser poster has been unveiled ahead of that.
The movie is based on a graphic novel by Alexis Nolent and Luc Jacamon. It tells the tale of an assassin played by Michael Fassbender, who starts to question his sanity as he awaits his latest target.
The poster, exclusively revealed by The Fincher Analyst, features a nice big painting of Michael Fassbender, and a very smart-looking title.
The Killer has been on the cards in some form or another for a long time. Fincher himself had been circling it for the past 16 years before finally starting filming in November 2021. It’s the first movie Michael Fassbender has starred in since 2019’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Not a bad job to come back with, is it?
Alongside Fassbender, the film stars Tilda Swinton, Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, and Sophie Charlotte. It’s been written by Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker and features Mank cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt collaborating with Fincher once again. Pleasingly, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are on soundtrack duties for Fincher again as well.
The Killer is David Fincher’s latest collaboration with Netflix after the award-winning Mindhunter series and the Oscar-winning biopic Mank. It’s set to release in select theaters in October and on the streaming platform on November 10. It premieres at the 80th Venice International Film Festival this Sunday, September 3, 2023.
