The infamous sarlacc found in the Great Pit of Carkoon returns in The Book of Boba Fett, and it’s far more dangerous than its appearance in Return of the Jedi suggested. The torturous digestion process of the sarlacc made feeding it one of Jabba the Hutt’s methods of executing his enemies, though Boba Fett embarrassingly became one of its meals during his battle with Luke Skywalker. While the sarlacc is shown to be extremely dangerous in Return of the Jedi, The Book of Boba Fett shows that its capabilities are far greater than what its cinematic debut showed.
The sarlacc is a stationary predator found on numerous worlds, but most famously Tatooine. Any creature unfortunate enough to be swallowed by a sarlacc is kept alive for a thousand years as it’s excruciatingly digested. Thanks to his highly-durable suit of Mandalorian beskar armor, Boba Fett fought his way out of the Pit of Carkoon, though his exposure to the acid made regular bacta healing sessions a necessity for a time.

Return of the Jedi shows that the sarlacc isn’t always a passive predator, as it uses tentacles to grab and pull prey into its maw if they get too close to it. This nearly happened to Lando Calrissian, but he was saved by a well-placed blaster bolt fired by Han Solo. In The Book of Boba Fett episode 4, «The Gathering Storm,” the same sarlacc grabs ahold of the Slave I, nearly eating Boba Fett once again before Fennec Shand killed the creature with a seismic charge.
