Devolver Digital has announced a new mode for its charming action adventure, The Plucky Squire.
Dubbed Streamlined Mode, this new way to play essentially strips out some of the tutorials, hand-holding, and less necessary dialogue, taking control away from players less often.
The game is clearly geared towards a family audience, so the regular story mode's frequent control reminders, tutorials, and cutscenes make sense in that context. However, for more experienced players, the Streamlined Mode removes some of that hand-holding.
«You can still play the game as it was before, but a new abridged Streamlined Mode has been added for anyone who’d prefer a less hand-holdy experience,» reads the press release. «This trims less necessary dialogue, removes or reduces camera hints, cuts out some tutorial content, and control of the game is taken away from you less often.»
The mode is available now on PC, and will soon be deployed in a new patch for console versions, including PS5 of course.
This update also «adds classy new dialogue portraits for the major characters, as well as some general bug fixes and other small improvements».

I also gave up on it
