Grant Gustin, the star of The Flash, originally wanted the eighth season of the show to be its last as he had recently gotten married and had a child and also believed that he had done everything he wanted to do with the character, but was convinced by Eric Wallace, the showrunner to return for one more season. However, Eric Wallace, the showrunner revealed that there were plans for a tenth season before he was told by The CW network that the ninth season which they picked up would be the last season.
The Flash’s cast includes Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West-Allen, Danielle Panabaker as Dr. Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost/Khione, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton, and Kayla Compton as Allegra Garcia, among other cast members.
The official synopsis for The Flash reads:
“After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good.
