Square Enix has taken to social media platform X to explain the artwork featured on the cover for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Created by creative director of the game Tetsuya Nomura, the artwork is meant to represent three distinct worlds that Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, and Zack Fair find themselves in.
According to Square Enix, Cloud and Zack are on the sides of the art, representing their destinies being torn apart because of the actions of antagonist Sephiroth. The colours of the image are meant to evoke fire and blood, owing to the actions of Sephiroth. The studio also states that the red shades at the bottom of the game’s logo are supposed to represent similar themes.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is slated for release on February 29, and will be coming out only on the PS5 to begin with. Director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed back in September that the game will need a whopping 150GB for installation on the PS5. The physical release of the game will also come on two Blu-ray discs.
