Nacon has released some top-tier controllers over the years, and now the Revolution 5 is out for the PlayStation 5 and PC. The Revolution 5 Pro is Nacon’s sixth overall controller and features Hall effect technology in the analog sticks. This technology has been used in a few controllers over the years, but is generally used for only the sticks whereas here, they’re used in the sticks and the triggers. Hall effect sticks alone allow for a far more durable and user-friendly, with the ability to avoid friction on the stick movement being an absolute godsend for racing games, shooting games, or 3D platformers.
Playing with Hall effects sticks versus not playing with them feels a lot more natural – especially for things like 3D platformers that benefit a lot from smoother stick movement without having hitches caused by sticks getting damaged over time. Having this kind of smooth movement for sticks should help keep them from getting wear and tear over time and given how much most games used triggers now, having a setup that avoids more damage coming to them over time is a huge help. Triggers are usually the first buttons I have wear and tear on with my controllers and if they start to feel wonky due to playing a ton of shooters and racing games, then it makes me more reluctant to play other games using that same controller.
The Revolution 5’s offset sticks are fantastic for those used to the Xbox-style controller layout and makes things better overall for shooters and racers with a controller.
