It’s been a long time coming, but Teardown is finally making its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X tomorrow, November 15. And who better to help us get excited than the great Owen Wilson? Wowwwwww…right?
Wilson narrates today’s Teardown console launch trailer in a way that only he can. If you’re unfamiliar with the title, the comedic actor describes it perfectly in the video as “a real-time physics simulation game with fully destructible environments.” Essentially, it’s a sandbox game where you can blow literally everything up. As Wilson so eloquently puts it, “Breaking stuff is fun, and the bigger the stuff, the bigger the fun.”
While we had to wait quite a bit after the PC edition, Tuxedo Labs’ console version of the game is loaded with features to help make it worth it. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X owners can expect a full 40-mission story campaign to complete, as well as the Art Vandals DLC that launched late last year for PC.
The campaign and DLC revolve around a series of heists that must be completed while working within the game’s voxel-based physics engine. Everything is fully destructible, with in-world debris, water, fire, and more being authentically simulated.
As players work through the campaign, they’ll begin with a modest assortment of tools at their disposal. Expect things like sledgehammers, spray cans, extinguishers, and leafblowers early on. But as you progress, you’ll be utilizing more powerful items such as firearms and explosives.
A Sandbox mode is included so that players can freely create and destroy at will. Here, players can work with unlimited resources and spawn structures, vehicles, tools, and more. And there are special level challenges offered outside of the campaign and DLC
