Keen Games has announced that its upcoming survival game Enshrouded will be launching into Steam Early Access next year on January 24.
Enshrouded was originally announced earlier this year in May. During October Steam Next Fest, it was the most played demo, most wishlisted game, and had the most daily active users. Based on what was shown in the release date trailer, there will be various ways to play. Players will have the option to fight enemies with magic, swords, bows and arrows, and much more. In addition to fighting, they'll also have the option to collect materials that can be used to build homes.
According to a press release, the dev team took inspiration from various games such as Valheim, Breath of the Wild, and Minecraft. The goal was «to create a more welcoming entry to the survival genre and a space that wasn't strict so as to leave more room for fun.»
In Enshrouded, players control a Flameborn, a dying race tasked with reclaiming their land from a corrupting fog. They can play solo or with up to 16 others. On top of the game launching into Steam Early Access, Keen Games says it also to release a console version in the future.
