Stay calm everyone, it's happening, and it's happening to more of us than we anticipated. There had been rumblings for a while that Baldur's Gate 3 will be getting a physical release, but initially those rumblings pointed to the massively popular RPG only being available physically in Japan. Larian Studios hinted that more than just Baldur's Gate 3's Japanese fans would be getting a physical release earlier this week, and now it has confirmed everyone will have the chance to own a physical copy of the Dungeons & Dragons game via its Deluxe Edition.
"The Deluxe Edition for PS5, Xbox, and PC includes the Digital Deluxe edition, as well as exclusive physical feelies," Larian confirmed via a post from the Baldur's Gate 3 X account on Thursday afternoon. There will only be a Deluxe Edition - so no Standard or Collector's options - and it costs $79.99. That might seem like a lot for one game, but when Larian promises additional goodies with the Deluxe Edition, it really means it.
There is actually a Collector's Edition of Baldur's Gate 3 that has been available since launch. However, it doesn't include a physical copy of the game, just a digital one, and it sold out very quickly.
Not only will you finally have the opportunity to actually own Baldur's Gate 3 on an actual disc (on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S, by the way) but you will also get a three-disc original soundtrack, a map to peruse without even needing to start up the game, a mind flayer poster, stickers, patches, and a fancy box to keep it all in. Again, and this is really worth noting since most soundtracks in Deluxe Editions nowadays are digital copies, all of the stuff listed there will be in the box with a copy of the game.
