BioWare marked this year’s N7 Day, an annual celebration of all things Mass Effect, with a blog post and series of teasers giving fans a first look at the next entry in the Mass Effect series.
We haven’t learned much about the next Mass Effect game since it was first unveiled at the 2020 Game Awards, but what little we did know confirmed speculation that the game would be a sequel set far in the future from the original trilogy of games and even Mass Effect: Andromeda, which was already set hundreds of years from the events of Shepard and crew.
The most significant detail we’d learned up to this point is that Liara appears to be back, though how significant her involvement in the story remains to be seen.
The trio of teasers released today, titled Epsilon, Defiance, and Nebula give us a peek at what may be the protagonist of the new title but little else. Is it Liara underneath the very Destiny looking armor in the trailers? Does the N7 sleeve imply Shepard has somehow returned? Or is our protagonist a new character altogether? The teasers raise more questions than answers, but at least we know what we’re looking at is in-engine according to BioWare’s Mike Gamble.
We’ll see you next N7 Day with hopefully more answers than questions.
