A new look at The First Descendant has debuted during Gamescom Opening Night Live alongside details of a new open beta that will be available for PC and console. The new trailer shows off more of The First Descendant's cinematic side, as well as all-new Unreal Engine 5.2 gameplay that shows off some of the titanic Colossi that players will face off against, the mysterious Vulgus, and several of the unique character abilities that can be wielded in battle.
The next cross-play beta for The First Descendant will start on September 19 and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and will be open to anyone who registers for it through developer Nexon's website.
Set in the world of Albion, The First Descendant puts you in the armored boots of a titular Descendent as you fight back against the invading forces of The Vulgus, standing as humanity's last line of defense on the continent of Ingris.
Previous betas for The First Descendant have introduced a number of improvements to the design of the third-person action-RPG, including improved frame rates, HDR, and NVIDIA DLSS 3 support. There have also been several quality-of-life improvements and new gameplay systems, including parkour and a grappling hook.
The upcoming beta will also feature a «substantial prologue» that explains more of the The First Descendant's lore, ahead of its targeted release window of Q4 2023.
