Remedy has shown off a new trailer for Alan Wake 2, which shows off the sections starring Alan for the first time.
Appearing during Gamescom‘s Opening Night Live presentation, the trailer showed off the first gameplay as the titular protagonist. Previous footage released of the game had focussed on the game’s other playable character, Saga.
The trailer showed a mix of live-action footage as well as third-person gameplay. In it, Alan appears on a late-night talk show to promote his latest book, Initiation. Throughout the trailer, it’s mentioned that Alan has seemingly written a manuscript that he has no memory of.

Remedy Entertainment recently delayed Alan Wake 2’s release date by 10 days.
Previously scheduled to launch on October 17, the game will now be released on October 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via the Epic Games Store.
Remedy announced in May that Alan Wake 2 would be a digital-only release. Explaining the decision, it said a large number of players have shifted away from buying physical games, and that not releasing a disc would help keep the title’s price at $59.99 / £49.99 / €59.99 on consoles and $49.99 / £39.99 / €49.99 on PC.
“Finally, we did not want to ship a disc product and have it require a download for the game — we do not think this would make for a great experience either,” it added.
In addition to the standard version of the game, a Deluxe Edition will be available for $79.99 / £64.99 / €79.99 on consoles and $69.99 / £54.99 / €69.99 on PC.
