This is the era of technology and India's vibrant tech industry is a global powerhouse, but it faces a challenge – a shortage of skilled workers. As the technology landscape evolves, the need for proficient developers, particularly in mobile app development, has grown exponentially. There are various programs available that provide skills in app development, however, they can only be successful if the young generation is aware of them.
Recognizing the need for skillful youngsters, Apple and Infosys have recently partnered with the SRM Institute of Science and Technology to empower students with the knowledge and skills required to excel in this field. The university has taken a significant step by integrating iOS app development into its computer science curriculum.
While currently offered as an elective, plans are underway to grant academic credit for this course. This collaboration goes beyond traditional education. It equips students with the tools, mentorship, and real-world experiences they need to thrive in the competitive tech industry. Students have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge coding platforms like XCode and Swift Playgrounds, gaining practical skills in iOS app development. Furthermore, Infosys provides internship opportunities, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
According to a report by the Indian Express, Apple also offers mentorship and additional resources to teachers and students who are participating in this course. On the other hand, students can also get the opportunity to do an internship. Currently, 50 students have taken up this course. The SRM University is planning to increase the number of students to 100 next year. This can be really a game-changing step
