Joshua John Miller’s has received its Digital release date. The Russell Crowe-starring horror movie will be heading home soon.
The Exorcism brings evil into your home when it is released on Digital on July 9, 2024.
Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe stars as Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play. The film also stars Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, and David Hyde Pierce.
The Exorcism is directed and co-written by Joshua John Miller. Miller is the son of The Exorcist’s Jason Miller, who played Father Damien Karras. So, this story has more than a bit of connective tissue with William Friedkin’s horror classic.
In ComingSoon’s 5/10 review of the movie, I wrote that ”It’s clear something interesting was being made. It’s not necessarily groundbreaking in an increasingly exhausted arena, but it’s a more intimate, tragic tale of people and the film industry that gets drowned out by the worst habits of the genre.”
This was Crowe’s second time playing a priest in a year. Last year, he was wildly entertaining in the completely unrelated The Pope’s Exorcist.
